More than ten years of teaching, one student at a time
I'm Elizabeth. I tutor math here in Odessa and online, and before this I spent over ten years teaching physics and mathematics — to high school and college students in Brazil, and now to students across Tampa Bay.
I have a Ph.D. in Physics, which sounds more intimidating than it is. What it actually means is that I've spent years taking difficult ideas apart and putting them back together in plain language. That's the same skill a fifth grader needs when fractions stop making sense, and the same one a junior needs three weeks before the SAT.
So the level never worries me. What matters is finding the exact place where things stopped being clear — it's almost never where the student thinks it is — and rebuilding from there. Sessions are structured but warm: we find the gaps, make a plan, and celebrate every win along the way.
Today I teach at Mathnasium and privately — foundational skills through Algebra I and II, Geometry, Precalculus, and SAT/ACT preparation. In English or Portuguese, online or in person — and I speak some Italian too.
